Journalism Experience

Sports Illustrated, New York, NY

Writer/Producer (October 2019-Present)

  • Write original NBA enterprise features for SI.com and the magazine, with an emphasis on finding unique stories that appeal to readers of varying basketball interest levels. NBA stories have been featured as multi-page print spreads and Daily Covers online
  • Lead SI.com’s WNBA coverage for the 2021 season by publishing weekly features on the W. Stories highlight under-reported players and elements of the league while also providing casual readers with an understanding of news connected to the sport
  • Develop enterprise ideas across a range of other sports, including MLB, college basketball and the Olympics, with a particular focus on highlighting offbeat stories. Lead SI’s professional lacrosse coverage with a focus on chasing breaking news
  • Appear on-camera as front-facing talent to discuss original reporting. Effectively incorporate data to develop a strong point of view while serving as an analyst for daily videos about NBA and WNBA topics
  • Write and publish breaking news stories for SI.com, relying on quick decision-making to complete assignments on deadline. Monitor social media for trends, optimize SEO and write social language for posts to ensure widest possible reach

Producer (November 2018-October 2019)

  • Pitched, produced and scripted original video series for SI.com and SI’s social media platforms. Topics included profiles of unsung figures in black sports history, college football tradition stories and a daily wide-ranging look at the world of women’s soccer
  • Pitched, produced and edited daily social videos pertaining to relevant news of the day as a means to engage a younger demographic of SI’s audience. Videos from our small team were viewed by more than 10,000,000 people monthly
  • Associate Producer and researcher for SI documentary in development. Conducted multiple interviews, prepped senior reporters on interview subjects, organized archival footage, transcribed interviews, assisted in story outline
  • Assist in production of SI’s daily web show, “SI Now.” Responsibilities include conceiving segments and guests, overseeing the show’s social media platforms, writing necessary social language as well as headlines and descriptions for posted clips

CNN Sports, Atlanta, GA

  • Wrote original enterprise sports features for CNN.com by interviewing subjects over the phone or in person; covered events. Helped sports news staff compile editorial and confirm reports for CNN.com and various CNN television programs
